Characters: Lu Tze, Ollivander

Lu Tze swept the dust into a dust pan and wandered out from between of wands to empty it into a bin. The broom in his hand was as effective as a wizarding cloak at rendering him invisible, and wasn't as much bother.

He started sweeping the shop floor, carefully using a smaller brush for the corners. He spared the wandmaker and the dark-haired boy the occasional glance as he worked.

Just because you were witnessing one of the most important events in this world's history didn't mean you were entitled to do a half-arsed job.

Characters: Dumbledore, Ridcully

"Then it's arranged?"

Ridcully nodded and held out his hand for Dumbledore to shake.

"Sounds like an excellent idea. Young Rincething's been cooped up in that library too long. Shelving books all day, no one but a monkey for company... He needs a bit of excitement."

The two wizards stepped back as a sixth year charge past.

"Yes indeed," said Ridcully contentedly, following Dumbledore into his office and grabbing a handful of floo powder. "Can't wait to see the chap's face when I tell him.

"It's not every day you get offered a position teaching Defence Against the Dark Arts."


A/N: I now have a huge urge to *write* Rincewind as DADA teacher. "When confronted with a Boggart, grasp your wand tightly and... RUN AWAY!!!"

Title: Troubleshooting

Ponder Stibbons, Reader in Invisible Writings at Unseen University, ate quickly. He kept his eyes on his food (a wise thing to do when the Dean was around, in any case), but he could feel the accusing glares of the older wizards prickling the top of his head like a cheap hat.

The Archancellor had- he shuddered- been taking an interest again. He'd been reading snippets Hex had trawled up.

PTWANG!

The thud of a crossbow bolt, a whimper from the Bursar.

"Got another one of the buggers!"

He buried his head in his hands. Ridcully took everything so literally.
