Feb. 23rd, 2008 07:14 pmI've been in such a shitfest of a mood lately that I thought I ought to do this meme:
Comment if you want to do this and I'll give you a letter. Then you go and list ten things you like starting with that letter.
Ianto Jones from Torchwood. He's capable and intelligent, always in the background providing tea and necessary information, but absolutely capable of kicking ass when required. He's also adorable and shagging Jack, of course, which helps. I find him quite intriguing and have the urge to fic him irredeemably.
Icarus. I have a ridiculous fondness for wings in art, and Icarus provides admirably. I loved Gilbert's Icarus in Cardiff and spent a good ten minutes staring at his wings, and Jack Gilbert's Falling and Flying makes me happy.
IMDB. I have this thing where I can't rest until I work out where I've seen actors before - I generally do my best to recognise them myself because I have such an impressive streak of geek in me. If I'm entirely stumped, though, IMDB is my salvation, as well as providing me with information about everything that - say - David Hewlett has ever been in ever, which always helps one to stalk properly.
The Impala. Sex. Sex on wheels. My OTP is the Impala/Ray Kowalski's GTO. I so don't ship het, usually!
Idiolects. The individual knowledge and use of language that varies so completely between one person and the next; not just the words but the unique associations and meanings attached. It makes for metaphors and similes and comparisons and descriptions that no one else ever uses, which, when spotted, have to be one of the happymakingest things in my life. I mentioned the geek, aye?
Dr Iannis, a very central character to Captain Corelli's Mandolin. He typifies one of my favourite characters - the highly intelligent, faintly gruff, dry and sarcastic older gentleman with a definite edge of mischief to him. I loved the book deeply and shall have to read it again.
Immaturity. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever.
Iowa, thanks to
sheafrotherdon. A beautifully long and fabulously developed AU with Stargate: Atlantis characters that never fails to put a huge soppy smile on my face.
Isaac Jaffe from Sports Night, who is the man I want to be when I grow up; if you read the post you'll see some of the reasons why.
Improvisation. This is both in terms of writing - to 15 minute challenges, for RP, however it might manifest itself - and in terms of actors I adore. I get a sad little gleep when I hear on commentaries that actors I love have come up with truly awesome lines. It's always nice to know I'm not being entirely shallow by admiring them. ;)
This would have been posted far quicker had I not been pinned by a cat. I'm watching the end of Pride and Prejudice, too. Yay for escapism. :D
