nnyOkay, know how I said that art was the best thing ever? I have reconsidered.
Back in January, when I attended my home school (the school I'm in now) for a couple of days before I moved to Frome and my complementary school, I taught a one-off lesson to the bottom set in year 11. They're a loud set, rowdy, known for throwing things out of the windows. It's genuinely an uphill battle to get them to write anything at all, and a day when you don't get sworn at, laughed at or insulted is a good day. I was nervous as hell, but the lesson went really well, they did some decent work, and they asked if I could please teach them again.
What with the move, obviously that didn't happen.
So, today I was wandering around looking for the classroom I was supposed to be in. My fellow student teacher grabbed a passing year 11 - one of said class - and asked him which room we should be in. He answered, caught sight of me, and exclaimed "OH MY GOD, THIS TEACHER ROCKS!" He came up and grinned at me and asked if I was teaching. I said yes, I would be, and he said right, he was COMING IN TO THE LESSON. I laughed and said I wasn't teaching that lesson but I would be in future, and he said he'd come and find the lessons I taught and invade them.
That, my friends, is the best thing ever.
