"We'll leave your dreadfully misguided analogy alone for the sake of my mental health," Aziraphale tells him primly, fingers still fidgeting with the ragged edge of one of his new wings. "I just - I know I'm lucky to get them back at all, after the whole - " he waves a hand vaguely, a game attempt at representing Greater London, the heatwave, twelve passersby and that dratted monkey in sign language - "thing, but really. Heaven isn't precisely known for its sense of whimsy."

Crowley leans in close and Aziraphale gets the silly flutter in his stomach that he always gets. A flush travels up his neck and washes through his cheeks, originating at the point of contact where Crowley has hooked his chin over the angel's shoulder; it's all Aziraphale can do not to let out a soft gasp when Crowley runs the tip of one finger along the edge of a varicoloured wing.

"I like them," he says decisively, pulling away. Aziraphale looks quickly downward, since the smooth-worn hardwood of the bookshop floor is infinitely safer than meeting Crowley's eyes, just now.

It means he's entirely unprepared when Crowley's smile brushes quickly against his cheek.

"You look very pretty, Angel," Crowley tells him, solemnly. Even without the laughter there is heat flickering in his voice.
