I definitely want to see some Marquis/Richard - and I'm dying to know who Neil Gaiman meant when he said there was a gay male character in Neverwhere.

Hm...there really should be more:

Methos/Joe from Highlander
Roland/Eddie/Susannah from the Dark Tower series
Vetinari/Vimes, Vetinari/Drumknott, Vetinari/Leonard, and...er...Vetinari/Leonard/Drumknott (and there would be some of that last if I ever dusted off the story on my hard drive.)
Gandalf/Anyone
Dumbledore/Anyone (because there's no way that man's not just a little bent.)

And most of all, there really should be some sort of slash fairy that we could ask to grant our slash wishes ;-)

Yep - I believe it's meant to come up in the sequel, whenever that gets written. Mr. Gaiman said something to the effect that there's already a gay character in Neverwhere, just that we won't realize it until he's in a relationship.

I really hope it's the Marquis, because I adore him, and I'd love to have even more slash fodder. I could only be disappointed if it's someone like...Gary from the office :-P

Just...just stay away from the Pit of Voles. There's no good to be had there. I have looked, and I bear the scars. pirategasm and potc_canon_fic, that's where the good stuff is. There just isn't enough bi and het for my tastes.

I can't believe how picky I've become with my smutty fanfic. If you'd told me this two years ago, I'd have laughed and then sidled away.

Y'know, that shouldn't even be warned against. It should be taken as read that any pits of voles should be avoided. Those little buggers bite. =)

Eventually. I'm not really holding my breath - I don't think it's anything more than an idea or an outline at the moment - but Mr. Gaiman has said he's planning a sequel called The Seven Sisters, and had begun a short story or novella entitled How the Marquis Got his Coat Back, which was put on the backburner in favour of the American Gods short story spinoff that's out in one of the Legends anthology, I believe.

Gosh, that was a really long sentence.

Made a giant list of everything I was committed to doing over the next 6 months. Then made a list of all the books I want to write, trying to leave nothing out. I think Neverwhere 2 (It's a novel called The Seven Sisters) may have to wait a while before being written, as I realised I only knew a little bit of the story, which means that the novel after Coraline will probably be either WALL (The Jenny Kertin novel) or ANANSI BOYS.

So I guess you didn't imagine it ;-) The title, by the way, cracks me up. It is deliberate, right?

Oh, and I've just thought of another Gaiman pairing that there really should be more of (read: any of - and there would be if I'd just tackle my hard drive) - Ibis and Jacquel from American Gods. I believe they were meant to be canon, but I think they deserve some slash of their own ;-)
