I am covered in superglue because in the enrichment session after school today, me and three year sevens made sock puppets. Mine has feather wings and is called Gethyn. OH YEAH, YOU WISH YOU WERE AS COOL AS ME.

I am somewhat screwed up over the fact that I don't have a lesson planned for tomorrow yet; my brain is shying away from lesson planning, which is unhelpful and stressing me out. I need time - which I'll take over the weekend - to sort everything out in my head and replan the unit and make sure it's sorted, but in the mean time there's dead air. And I have no fucking clue how to fill it.

Oh, don't you know it, baby.

Could you show a film? I'm serious. Something you can get easily from the DVD store that the kids can then talk about. Like, you could show Star Wars and have a discussion about what makes someone into a hero, and hero archetypes, and the Quest in literature. And then have the kids write their own stories and hopefully not stab each other with pencils.

Not that I know much of anything about teaching, so I can't help you. I'm sorry. :(

That is an awesome idea, and one I would love to use somewhere down the line, but. These kids, it's a struggle getting them to understand enough English to be able to answer the questions I'm asking. I don't know enough about their backgrounds in English, it makes everything more difficult.

You could always say your dragon ate your lesson plan?

(Sorry, it was right there.)

Wow. I'm seriously amazed that you're able to get anything through to these kids at all.

I'm glad you liked the idea. :D I wish you luck for tomorrow! Maybe they'd like to make sock puppets too?

*digs out her sock puppets to play with you*

Clearly, you should have the entire class make sock puppets. Because they are awesome and do not require vast language skills. Also, the sock puppets could then be used to act out stories or something. Though that might just result in a sock puppet war. :/
