Date: 2009-06-14 12:21 pm (UTC)Sooo, NCIS, while pretending to be a Serious Crime Drama About Cops, is actually a dorky, dorky soap opera about how much Tim and Tony love each other. (Seriously, how a show where one of the characters canonically has a secret fourth wife and another one gets the plague is expected to be serious, I do not know, but still!) It is the story of Tony DiNozzo, ex-fratboy and wannabe action hero in the body of a Very Special Agent (he calls himself that, by the way), and how he grows up, gets a Tragic Backstory, and accepts his love for one Timothy McGee, author, scout leader, raconteur, online Elf Lord, and geek freak, who also happens to be a federal agent and badass hacker.
That many other people watching the show apparently think they don't like each other boggles me, because Michael Wetherly, who plays Tony, to me seems to be having a competition with JFlan over who can make their allegedly straight character gayer. Actually, JFlan wins, but only because John is pretty much gay, whereas Tony is flamingly bisexual and quite happy with the wimmins, he just also happens to like pouncing on McGee a lot and calling him Probilicious and, like tickling him and petting him and giving him hugs when he thinks Tim needs them. (This is not always when Tim thinks he needs them, but hey, he tries.) And finds himself having to adjust his clothing whenever Tim does something particularly badass and take-charge. AND AGAIN I AM NOT MAKING IT UP THAT CANONICALLY HAPPENS AND THERE REALLY IS NO EXPLANATION OFFERED FOR IT. Despite the fact Tony also canonically really enjoys Tim calling him "boss", I think this is awesome. XD
Oh and there's also a bit where Tim is asked whether he knows about Tony's secret mission "since you do have a very... professional relationship, don't you?" and Tim looks the SHIFTIEST THING EVER and then there is a montage of them removing their shirts and jumping on each other. Again, I'm not making that up either. (And after the montage Tim just goes "...er... yes, very professional." BWAH.) And Tony talks to Tim's stomach and tells him he loves him (the "I love you, McGee" is ADORABLE and really well done, and Tim just pets his leg and awwwww) and they are adorable.
And the others are cool too - Gibbs, the boss, took me a while to warm up to but he is kind of stealth and slaps people upside the head, and Tim has a relationship in season one with the coolest girl on the show who ALSO happens to be a hacker and then they break up but are still friends and it's awesome and her name is Abby and she BOWLS with NUNS and does wiring for Habitat for Humanity, and Ziva is MOSSAD and can kill you with her pinky and has an unfortunate thing for Tony but it will pass omg, and she replaced Kate who was like the older sister who would maybe slap you in the head but was also awesome and Ducky is Kuryakin from Man from UNCLE and tells rambly stories and is weirdly adorable and his assistant is Palmer who is also weirdly adorable and really I need to make you watch some. :)

I totally would. Tony/Tim OTP! I love them so much, but oh god, there is so little good NCIS fic out there, it makes me sad. :(

I mean it has great team chemistry, is hilarious, has pretty people (Tony obvy, but Pauly Perrette is stunning, and so is Cote) kickass female characters, snark, intrigue, drama, and Illyia frickin' Kuryakin! I just don't get it :-/

(Nny - not only does the show have hot ladies, it also has an ENTIRE EPISODE dedicated to dog-related puns, JUST SO YOU KNOW. *pimps*) And Cote is also totally gorgeous - omg (http://img23.imageshack.us/i/cotedepablozivancis.jpg/), people who wouldn't go there are either 1. not so much into women, or 2. kind of scared she would kill them with her Mossad skills.
And seriously, just the bit where Ziva gives Tony racoon eyes deserves an entire fandom. OMG.
