It's wonderful being back at my parents'. Reading Bad Science by Ben Goldacre and enjoying it ridiculously, and I've just been to Winchester to see a Gaiman-esque puppet/theater/music group called the River People. Hugely impressed by them; they're going to be in London in December and London based people should definitely make the effort to go see them.

Really not managing to keep up with the internet at the moment, so if I've missed anything just make up something stupid as a response to your postings and say it in my mental voice.

(Have you heard my podfics? What does my mental voice sound like, to you?)

I wish I could like Bad Science more than I do. I think the premise is laudable, and there is so much bad science and bad statistics around, but his constant harping on about how stupid and deluded humanities graduates are gets old pretty damn fast.

Tomorrow I have promised to Gabriel because she's 18 now, and it's the first time she's not been out. Otherwise I would be making hilarious and shameless begging motions in your general direction. ;)

I have no idea who Julie Holmes is...

The main character from Tame, the thing I asked you to podfic last year. ;)

See, I've only come across one comment that made me growl like that, the rest of it I'm getting on with. He does have a massively narrow focus, and obviously sees what he does and the area of interest to him as most important, but I think that's the same with most people. I feel equally dismissive of people who don't read in their free time.

WHICH I AM STILL INTENDING TO. I've just come into a bit of money so I'm going to improve upon the current microphone soon. And I should have read it by now, I absolutely admit that and I apologise for not having done so. No excuses.

I've not read the book, as it came out after I'd all but given up on the site, but the bad science website is pretty damning of non-scientists (and it's something a lot of the commenters pull him up about, so it's not just me).
