WHAT THE EVERLOVING WHAT????

Um. Somehow there has been a massive evacuation of skin on one side of my mouth, just above my left canine-y thing, and now I am in hilarious amounts of pain while trying to drink some orange juice. I CANNOT APPLY PLASTERS TO THIS! MY FIRST AID IS USELESS!

If you've ever had a cold sore, the same virus can cause a similar sore on the inside of your mouth as well and sometimes the mucous membrane with slough.

salt water rinsing will help. orange juice will not (acidic).

in the US you can get stuff called anbesol or orajel, which is--hang on, I have some. *looks* active ingredient: 20% benzocaine. It's a numbing agent. temporarily useful, but better than all ow all the time. problem: it also may tend to numb your tongue leaving you unable to say the word Romulans

you can get gels with anaethetics in them, like lidocaine or another -caine. They're mainly aimed at people with ulcers (which I get in clusters when ever my immune system has ANYTHING ELSE to think about, it's always the first sign I'm going to get a cold or other minor ailment). Anyway, one of those gels should do it, just ask any pharmacist. I think mine is called ambigel or something like that.

Something else that helps that sort of thing but will sting like a bitch - corsodil. It comes as a mouthwash or as a gel, I find the mouthwash easier. You can get it in Asda, but should also be at any other supermarket or chemist. I use it for wisdom-tooth related swelling, my buddy Jim uses it for ulcers - works a treat for anything mouth-related that needs some help healing.

I once got one in the UK called "Rinstead", which was a 'caine plus clove oil - stinky as all get out, but it did the job.
