Knitting question!

Probably a stupid question but I'm a little confused, and I'm pretty sure the book hasn't explained this.


The pattern says BO 5 (2, 2) sts, p 0 (6, 0) BO 0 (2, 0) sts, p to end of row.

I am confused by the numbers in brackets. And the concept of purling 0 stitches. Whut?

The numbers in brackets are for different sizes - the one outside is for size small, the other two are for medium and large. So, if you are making the small size, you cast off 5, if making medium, you cast off 2. You just then don't purl any stitches when it says p 0.
