Though I'm of the camp that liked Maladict more at the beginning of the book than I did at the end, if you know what I mean. Still, some Maladict/Perks certainly wouldn't go amiss.

Oh, definitely! He was so hawt at the beginning of the book, while at the end, I was going like WTF? He didn't have a real function during the conclusion, which annoyed me a bit. Plus, I'd have prefered if his sex had turned out to be the opposite of, er, what it turned out to be.

I really should rephrase this comment. *shakes head over inability to express herself*

Exactly -- I liked the elegant, effete, and important-to-the-plot Maladict of the beginning. And I am in total agreement regarding the gender issue. It really would have been better the other way.
