On another note entirely:

I know this is absurd, but my brain doesn't recognise patterns. It's not held me back in maths at all, although I can't really do times tables unless I just work them out in my head really quickly; it did mean, though, that when we were doing investigations I could find piles and piles and piles of results but had trouble finding the rule without a nudge in the right direction. Like, I could predict what came next but not tell you why.

I can't do time zones, distance or temperature, nothing with intervals; you know when you can sort of go 'oh, it's about twenty degrees today'? That means nothing to me. I've tried to build up a reference in my head, but it doesn't work.

I also have huge problems with cause and effect, which is a massive handicap when you're a teacher. I can analyse a lesson and say what went well and what didn't, but I really can't then relate that to another lesson and build up an idea of what works well for a certain class and what doesn't. I am lucky that I have such a good personality for the teaching profession, because frankly the behaviour management side would be a nightmare if the kids didn't like me. (I'm not saying that to be arrogant).

So yeah. Every month when I say that I have learned a little more about how hormones affect me? It's probably the same thing every month. For instance, today I have just worked out, after almost a week, that the massive ennui and inability to force myself to do enough work might just be related to the hormones, since it happens every damn month.

UGH. I swear I'm not stupid. I'm not half as bright as most of you lot, probably, but I'm a reasonably intelligent person. I just - when one thing follows another, over and over again, repetition unending, I still manage to be surprised the next time it happens.

...maybe the 'I'm not stupid' needs redacting?
