Snape cradled Lucius’ seventeen year old body in his arms, with one shaking hand brushing long pale-blonde hair out of wide grey eyes that stared expressionlessly at the sky.

He raised his head and looked up at an older Lucius, one marked and stained and changed by the choices he had made, the paths he had taken. Ones that the boy in his arms would never have the chance to choose.

He stared into familiar ice-blue eyes, and searched in vain for the slightest trace of compassion, regret.

“I’ll kill you,” he promised quietly. “For Draco, I will kill you.”
