Today I am a little bit resenting the huge amount of books I'm sending off to a charity shop - over the years I've probably invested quite a lot of money in those. XD If only I were less massively lazy and could ebay them!

Ah well. Oxfam'll appreciate it.

(I keep going back and rummaging through again. Am I sure I want to get rid of them...?)

I don't know if it will make you feel better to know this, but it's ridiculously hard to make any money selling books online. I sell on Amazon, but even when the book cost me nothing and gets despatched in a reused jiffy bag, the chance it can be sold for a profit is still less than 50%.

I occasionally look and see if Amazon's trade-in service will give me anything for books that I'd otherwise donate -- most of the time it's nothing, but I have found a few books that were worth some pennies here and there for trade-in, which I usually spend on MP3 downloads. But yes, sunk costs are sunk costs, and it's somehow sadder for books. ;_;

I feel so lucky sometimes... we have a used bookstore here in town that is well-known, and large, and does a lot of business. Selling books to them is a piece of cake, and I do it as often as possible, because it's worth it - I certainly get a lot out of shopping there, so it helps me to know that their shelves will be restocked. Or something ;)

What's better, also, is that they'll take everything I give them, even if they can't give me any money for something, and they donate what they don't keep for themselves. So it's like a two-fer, and it works.

Anyway... maybe there's something like this near where you are?
