Date: 2013-03-18 11:46 pm (UTC)I remember that Cracked article--I think it has a point in that if you're unhappy with your life, it is probably a good idea to look into making changes inasmuch as you're able, but it could be a little less dickish about it.
There's that one short line about how Alec Baldwin gives the speech and is like, go home and play with your kids, and it's supposed to be this sneer at how anybody could value anything more than business. But just reading the text, it makes sense! If you want to be in that super-high-pressure job, you have to do the long-hours work, but if something else is more important to you, that's totally cool! Go do that!
And if The World only wants brain surgeons, then you know what, fuck The World. Maybe you bring people soup when they're sick, or make people laugh, or you're a really good listener, or you make art that makes people look at the world in a different way.

In re. complicated hard tasks, would breaking down the tasks help?
