Dec. 9th, 2013 06:46 pmI need help.
I have to do a thing*. I do not want to do the thing. I am actively avoiding doing the thing. I massively do not want to do the thing tomorrow, but I have to hand it in the day after. How can I make myself do the thing?
*essay (500 words, I am not kidding, it will take me like 45 minutes what is WRONG WITH ME)
ETA: IT IS DONE! THANK YOU ALL, will get back to you ASAP.

Date: 2013-12-09 10:11 pm (UTC)Sometimes bribing myself works. (Often it doesn't, because my brain unfortunately likes to laugh at the idea that this kind of self-imposed authoritarian structure is at all binding, but sometimes it works.) You know, "As soon as I finish this, I can do _______ or have a cookie or read ______!"
Unplugging from the internet, if it's a thing that can be done offline. Even if it can't, sometimes I can unplug and make myself whack out an offline rough draft that I can then transmute into the finished version more easily.
