Mar. 12th, 2014 05:17 pmDidn't get interview for dream job.
I got a letter saying 'this is not the standard letter' and 'hella close' and 'more positions coming up' and 'other ways to get involved' but I didn't get an interview.
Sucks.

Date: 2014-03-12 07:06 pm (UTC)As someone who's run the other side of the interview desk a few times now, I can tell you with 100% certainty that they would not send that kind of "please apply for future things! we REALLY LIKED YOU!" letter unless they really, really, really REALLY liked you. Getting that letter really does mean you seriously impressed them. Not just "oh yeah she'd be okay" but "DAMMIT WHY CAN'T WE HIRE HER" impressed. They probably had a hundred or more applications to sort through, and they would not have TIME to write you a special letter unless they meant it.
If you can, the second you're able, I would go and ask about those ways of getting involved. Because it sounds to me like they really want to give you money, and it was not at all you being inadequate that meant that didn't happen. (Usually it's "someone with more relevant qualifications applied as well so we have to give it to that guy", or "we have [x experience] down on our ticklist and this guy has it and also meets all the other criteria but this other person we like better doesn't". Um, again, if that helps.)

but yeah, it definitely sounds like they like you a lot and maybe they will keep you in mind for in the future. :)?
