A couple of poems

He pretends not to understand what you're
Getting at
Makes it easier for himself
Harder for you
He knows you're no good at
Confrontation
Raised voices
At hurting him
So he sits and
Smiles and
Watches you fumble for words, pretending
This silence the seconds fall into
Isn't the time between
'Us'
and
'Me'
Stray Sheep
this time it's for real
i say
and you pretend to believe me
and i pretend to believe me
if you need anything... you leave
the words hanging
because you won't ask for me back
you don't need me
the way i
need you
i won't
i say and don't look back
because your smile and your open arms
they bring me back too soon and
you don't say see you in the summer
you don't say come back when you're ready
you don't say i'll be waiting
and to save time i don't say
goodbye
because i'd only have to take it back
again
when i come back in the summer
to open arms and smiles
and you saying you missed me which
i know you mean
and me saying i didn't miss you back which
you know is a lie
but it's okay because we both know and laugh about it
and you say are you ready to come back
and i say
yes
just don't make me go to church.
