Nov. 30th, 2004 01:08 pmReally odd weekend just gone. Odd but good. Like many things. For those of you who haven't been paying attention (and seriously, where have you been?) I went over to Ireland to visit
copinggoggles. It was the first time I'd ever done anything like it before, so I was, frankly, terrified, and faffed like a mad thing. I ended up packing my bag until about midnight the night before I left, and then stayed up until 2:30 doing last minutes bits and pieces before sleeping for three hours and heading down to the airport.
I read some Dorothy L. Sayers on the plane (which I shared with a bloody AWFUL Cardiff dance group, who made me embarrassed to be even nominally coming from the same place as them); that is, when I wasn't grinning out of the window, delighted at the fact that I was flying OMG. Eventually I managed to make my way out to the entrance, where Sophie and I exchanged flowers and hugged lots. It was exceedingly sweet.
We got the bus into town, and discussed Milliways at great length (something of a theme for the weekend), and I was shown the large number of phallic structures that populate Dublin. Possibly not unrelated was the faaaaabulous statue of Oscar Wilde, which I have taken pictures of.
Right, let's see. How to make this simpler?
Acquisitions
*Cowboy Bebop: eps. 1-26, film.
*Master and Commander, film and soundtrack
*Cabaret soundtrack
*The Rocky Horror Picture Show
*Spirited Away
*TE Lawrence: Revolt in the Desert (printed 1927 and SO PRETTY)
*Marcus Arelius: Meditations
*The Mauritius Command: Patrick O'Brian
*Lucifer #4
*The Pirates on an Adventure With the Scientists (Sophie, I love you *g*)
*someoneIcan'tremember: Jonathon Strange and Mr Norrel
*Postcards
*Fudge
*APPLE TEA!
*a huge crush
DVDs watched? Many. Drinks? Also, many. Um, Hard Core Logo with bottle of smirnoff accompanying? That was interesting. Hangovers? None. *g*
Went to a market at which I was rather incredibly tempted to buy a tweed jacket with TARTAN LINING, but decided that the Lawrence book took precedence, to Sophie's disgust I think. However, a photo was taken of me in a tweed jacket, so that's okay then, isn't it?
Our major night out was to the George, a marvellously purple gay bar in Dublin. We both looked rather spiffing, if I do say so myself, and Sophie successfully got me to dance While Still Sober. Believe me, this is an accomplishment. She also managed to fall off the stage. Unfortunately I was on the other side of the bar, but seeing her head disappear abruptly and
lakedeal cracking up was rather amusing...
Um. I forget. There's loads more that happened, loads more I should be mentioning, so Sophie shall have to remind me. In the meantime, I forgot to take my camera to the gay bar (*headdesks*) so I have photos left. Belated what do you want me to photograph? meme.
Also? Birthday's coming up. Anyone want to send me a card for my wall o' cards? Would be appreciated. Let me know if you want addressage. *g*
