Jan. 3rd, 2006 03:01 pmHello, peepholes.
I'm feeling rather ridiculously cheerful today, for no real reason. I suspect it might be related to various Good Omens oddnesses that have been popping up today; for such a short book, one that I've read far too many times, it still has the ability to utterly brighten my day. It's nice to have something to identify with like that, something that serves as infallible escapism.
That is, so long as you take a step back from the fandom and endeavour not to get wank on your shoes. Apparently the debate over the covers has made it onto fandom wank, which... oh for heaven's sake, I haven't the time to care, to be honest. Every single person has a different perception of how the characters look, that's rather the delight of having a book for a fandom. People have free liscence to see the characters how they want. I suppose book covers do add a touch of legitimacy to an artist's view, but they aren't any kind of set-in-stone reality of how Aziraphale and Crowley look - you don't like them, don't buy that copy. Choose another that has a closer interpretation or, even better, one that doesn't even have Aziraphale and Crowley on the front, if it offends your sensibilities so.
I, personally, am rather delighted with the new covers, as I've previously indicated. They're not how Aziraphale and Crowley look in my head, no, but they're charming. So I shall sit happily on my cloud of good cheer, today, and do my very best not to take too much notice of the fandom at large.
You're quite welcome to join me, you know.
