May. 16th, 2007 10:16 pmI think my family have learned to be selectively blind when they come into my room. Mum hasn't reacted to the tarot book - and considering her reaction to the Buddha statuelet I have on my chest of drawers it's pretty certain she would - and neither she nor my sister seem to have noticed the 'sex from RODNEY'S perspective' post-it attached to the computer monitor.
Other things attached to the monitor:
A big devil duck and a small devil duck, one red and one yellow, perched on top. They're called Andronicus and Anthony, and they're a reminder of things I'm still dreadfully proud of in spite of everything. One was given to me by
midnight_violet and one by
unravels. Somewhere around I have a non-devil duckie, too, which I accidentally stole from
darthrami and
strange_selkie, although I've never told them. I'm hoping that someday I can visit again and give it back.
Blue-tacked to the front of the monitor is a wooden scrabble tile, again from
unravels, which reminds me of one of my very favourite RP threads; not necessarily the best writing but quite ridiculous amounts of fun. That's pretty much what it's there for, actually. To remind me that RP is supposed to be fun. And to remind me of one of the best days out I've ever had in London, too.
And at the bottom, stuck to the base of the monitor, a post-it that says in big black letters, WRITE MORE. BE BETTER. It's a simple thing, something that just makes so very much sense, and yet it took me the longest time to bloody see that. I was too scared to write unless I wouldn't be good, when I couldn't be good if I didn't write. You know what? I'm writing more. And I'm getting better. And I'm bloody happy about it.
Thank you,
apiphile. You can be my clichéd wise mentor dude. :D
