nny: (toodle pip!)
I long for the day when this stuff comes naturally, seriously. I've taught my first solo lesson, which actually went pretty well I think, but the amount of planning I have to do - and the evaluations after, and the departmental meetings I'm expected to attend, and the ongoing search for sources to quote for my two assessments - is wearing me down a little. I'm basically going to be scarce as far as commenting and reading goes for the year although no doubt I'll talk just as much. I really do hate how rubbish a livejournal friend I am and have been and I am aware of it. It's just very difficult to invest as much time as I'd really like to, right now. I barely have a social life as it is (although that could just be my charming personality at work. XD)

On a happier note, I asked a boy out for the first time in my life, at the weekend. It's kind of sad that it's taken me this long, isn't it? He didn't say yes, sadly, since my timeframe was very limited and he's apparently besotted with someone else (oops), but the fact that a) I was confident enough to ask and b) I didn't take it too personally when he said no is really pretty positive, I think. Those of you who've been around for a while - those who've been around not that long, actually, too - will probably know how ridiculous my self-confidence can be at times so any progress is good.

Bonfire night tonight, although I haven't the time for fireworks. More planning of lessons, beginning with decision-making over which contemporary poet to teach to the year 9s. The teacher suggested Roger McGough and I think that's probably a good plan, since his style is distinctive and therefore fairly easy to imitate. :D

Anyway, yeah - just got back from a departmental meeting and food shop, now I have to go make my dinner - possibly there'll be time for an episode of SG:A while I'm cooking, although I still can't watch Tabula Rasa as that's on my computer so maybe I'll do that tonight - and go off to a fellow teacher trainee's house to plan tomorrow's lesson and get started on Wednesday's.
