nny: (Do I dare disturb the Universe?)
I'd like to officially register my Interest in Dreamwidth, in case anyone has an invite code to spare. Unlikely, I know. :D

Busy busy busy cleaning; [livejournal.com profile] midnight_violet is coming to visit tomorrow for a couple of days, and I figure a nice clean flat will make up for the fact that this one time I'm going to be massively selfish and make her sleep on the floor. So far I've had 9 nights of Easter holiday, and I've spent two nights in my bed and one night in a travel bed. I am sick of the floor, okay? My back is sick of the floor. Once I'm done with the kitchen I'm going to treat myself with a film and starting the 8 days of happy, and then I'm going to finish cleaning up my bedroom. Seems like an appropriate way to spend the Big Spring Thing day, really. :)
nny: (hhhhhai dunno)
So, okay, I can has dreamwidth account apparently. :D!!! I don't know precisely what I'm going to do with it yet; I'm keeping my main journal over here unless there's a major fandom shift, I think. Now I just need to decide on the name I'm going with. Thoughts?

8 days of happy

day 1

What's making me happy today is gay happy endings. There're more and more gay characters appearing in more mainstream media, but a lot of the time they're pointed gays. A lot of the time there is a big black outline around them letting people know that this show is very Open and Accepting and All That Good Stuff. And that's when they don't end up dying horribly, or winding up alone, or any number of other delightful fates that are apparently to be expected. While I'm sure that's all very Worthy, sometimes I just want the happy endings that everyone else gets to have, y'know?

I've just finished watching Breakfast With Scot, a film about a gay couple that wind up accidentally taking guardianship of the gayest kid ever. It's twee and sentimental and kind of adorable, and it leaves me with a big grin and a lack of Moral Hammer headaches.

Also to be recommended:

Trick, a film about an aspiring musical writer who picks up a go-go boy and spends the entire night trying to find somewhere to shag.

Wilby Wonderful, a day in the life of a close-minded island, with a load of wonderful characters (and Callum Keith Rennie, HI).

Shelter, about surf and street art and self-discovery, cute and faintly angsty in the best way.

Saving Face, about the unconventional love lives of a woman and her mother.

Now I'm gonna go clean some more. :D

*headdesks*
