I'm spamming today!

YOU! YES YOU! THE PERSON WITH MORE FASHION-SAVVY THAN ME! So, like, all of you. :D I have a long torso. Also, fat. I don't care about concealing the fat - I'm not trying to pretend to be something I'm not - but I do care about my tops meeting my trousers, which is rather more of an issue. Sometimes clothes places do not seem to recognise that just making bigger sizes doesn't actually help, you need to also make things LONGER.

Any ideas of styles or shops I can head towards? I'm chucking out the majority of my clothes today so I can have some idea of what I actually wear rather than have, so I'll know what I need. I'm just gonna need to know where to find it after...

I don't have any advice for you, but I'm bookmarking this post because I have the same damned problem.

I don't actually like "fashion" much -- I had an insight recently while trying to find an Easter dress appropriate for someone who's 5'3" and a B cup but is only eleven years old, which was that most of what I wear would be perfectly appropriate for an 11-year-old. So my experiences would probably be useless to anyone who actually wanted to dress like a grown-up.

One thing I can tell you is that Lands End tops are made for the short-waisted, and that if you buy the Tall sizes to get a longer body length, you get sleeves that are too long.

How sold are you on trousers? Would dresses and leggings be an alternative? With some boots (Doc Martens would look cute).

Otherwise, New Look's tops come up long, I find. Or something like a babydoll top, which is longer by design (though they make me look pregnant..)

Have you tried Long Tall Sally? Never been there myself, for obvious reasons.

don't Topshop do a tall section? I'm sure they used to.

I have a short torso, myself, but fat + enormous boobs = the same problem. I've found that undershirts/camisoles come a good bit longer than shirts since they're meant to be tucked in, so I layer up for those crucial extra inches at the bottom. In addition, the friction means the top shirt doesn't ride up the way it otherwise would on me.

Surprisingly enough, Primark's basic t-shirt range come up very long. They're ridiculously clingy so they're not necessarily ideal tops by themselves but I find them a really useful layer underneath too-short tops. And they cost something like £2.00 each.

I'm 5'5" and a UK size 18/20 - also have a long torso and big boobs :/ not ideal proportions. I find Dorothy Perkins have the best range of basic vests, tees and cardies etc that actually sit below the waistband of my jeans. They also do a tall range, up to about size 22 I think. Their stuff washes really well and lasts for ages - they do a 3 for £12 range in basic block colours. Hope that helps!

Not being in the UK, I can't help a GREAT deal with shop suggestions, but I do find some maternity wear to be quite helpful in not only flattering the tummy, but being long enough to cover any camel-toe/muffin-top danger zones.
