Well, according to the HP Lexicon, Snape was in the same year as MWPP during th 1970's (according to one of the timelines, their first year was 1971), and its guessed that he was born circa 1960. This makes sense considering that (again, also according to the lexicon) he first served Voldemort in the 70's. So I'd place him somwhere around 40 in 2000 - depending on where in the timeline your fic is set, that could change.
