A Snupin haiku

Lupin was thinner.
Snape watched him closely, seeing
his careful movements.

The man looked as if
any sharp jolt would break him.
Looked like he knew it.

He ate slowly, too,
as if afraid of giving
far too much away

with the speed he fed.
No one watched him except Snape
And Snape Didn't Care.

He grabbed Lupin's arm
As the other man faltered.
Only he noticed.

"You've not been eating."
"Don't pretend that you care, Snape!"
"No. I won't pretend."

"Let go of my arm.
Snape, I said..." "Do *not* do this.
Lupin. Be honest.

By the look of you,
not only have you been starved,
you've also not slept.

The Order needs you..."
"The *Order*? To the order

Lupin watched the fire
smoldering in Snape's black eyes,
thought... this should feel wrong,

this should feel so wrong...
as Snape leaned forward, long hair
tickling his tired face,

And he opened his mouth,
willingly meeting halfway
the man he'd hated.

Because this was all
Either of them could hope for.
Too broken, damaged,

To fit anyone
except the other. Only
the two of them matched.
