Sorry you're having a tough time with your mom. The thing is, I know about 54533545 straight people for whom marriage and kids isn't the formula for happiness, either. I'm not sure why I'm telling you that, because I'm sure that you already know and that I'm preaching to the choir. I guess because, your mom sees liking girls as "the reason you can never be happy" or whatever, when that's illogical because the same principles would apply if you were totally straight.
