oh, no, we wouldn't want you to think Sherlock and Watson are actually GAY, oh, good heavens, they have a very mature loving relationship that can't be put into a box, but it's not like that, goodness me! Theirs was THE FIRST TRUE BROMANCE!
It's reminded me why I can so rarely trust creators/cast enough to read interviews with them. Not only the whole anti-gay thing regarding their relationship, but also the stupid comment that Sherlock isn't gay because he's 'very male'. It's absolutely lovely to know that I'm clearly not a proper girl! The worst part is they don't even realise how fucking INSULTING they're being. URGH URGH URGH.
Must admit I kind of hate that there's no girl version of the term, though, because it perfectly describes some friendships of mine. But then, obviously, relationships between women just aren't that important according to pop culture, how lovely.
Because friendships between women are either a) full of jealous bickering and insecurity or b) totally unremarkable and uninteresting AMIRITE
BUT YES INDEED. IT ONLY HAS ONE NOSTRIL BECAUSE THE OTHER ONE IS FILLED WITH REASONS WHY I AM PISSED WITH IT AT THE MOMENT mostly its failure to provide any sort of female characters in Sherlock, thereby marring what should have been my pure and wholesome joy in a delightful gay detective drama D:
;lkja;lkfdja;lsdkfj;aslkfj;lsdkjf;lsdkfja I WAAAAAAAAAAAAANT IT. I think Del might have shown me this before? But it is NEVER not welcome because WAAAAAAAAAAANT! XD
See, unfortunately, it's comments on Sherlock by Moffat and Cumberbatch that has made me so livid. I will ignore any and all further interviews so that I can TINHAT IT RIGHT UP, OKAY.
(Oh, and there was that one woman, the one Holmes slut-shamed? D:<)
Ugh yes I saw some of that. BAH I AM GOING TO CONTINUE IGNORING IT AND/OR REVERT TO THE RDJ/LAW VERSION (speaking of which, dunno if you've seen that interview with Jude Law where he says that he hates the term bromance and describes the Holmes/Watson relationship as a romantic comedy :D)
(also, did Moffat not *write* that whole boyfriends exchange or what? JFC)
and NOOO that lady WHY WAS THAT BIT EVEN THERE EXCEPT TO ENRAGE ME AUGH
Funny as hell. My friends and I have taken to mocking the term relentlessly. We even came up with a flip term, "no hetero" (or "no breeder," if you're feeling racy) in case our queer friends might thing we'd gone straight.
"I'm going to go work on my car. No hetero!" "I think I might attend an organized sporting event - no hetero!"
