mousapelli: iPod I-Ching.
Only. Don't have an iPod. I just thought I should celebrate the fact that I just put all the music I have on this computer into a play list. So I guess I'm starting from the next song as comes on...
iPod iChing
You reach for the iPod and set it up to shuffle the songs. There can be no cheating by switching it to a playlist -- it must be on shuffle of everydamnedthing. Then you take the first five songs and this will provide you with the answers you seek to your dilemma.
My divination went as follows:
song 1:The problem at hand: Orange Glow: Simian
Sample lyric: Orange glow, it kills your star
You named it after what has died
And now we drive through the lanes to give it life
We're going to see the hills, so calm
Where we can see its eyes
Interpretation: Um. Well, either my life is completely made of crack, or... I can't get a focus in my life. There's something big that's blotting everything else out (not letting me write?), and I can't see things clearly because of it. I need to get away from this so I can get things in order again, to be able to see what I'm dealing with.
Um.
milliways_bar, anyone? O.o
Song 2: your feelings about the same: Soul Coughing: True Dreams of Wichita
Sample Lyric: Signal got lost to the satellite
Got lost in the
Rideup to the
Plungedown;
Clutching her love like a drivers liscence
Punch it
I got, uh, fed
I got, uh, too much things on bounce, uh, my head
I got to burn ’em up
I got to burn ’em up now
I got to go uptown, uptown
I got a thing
I got a little bit pushed
Got to stand on the corner and bellow for mush
I got a bomb
I got a baby bomb bomb
Got to stand on the corner and bellow for my friend tom
I got a thing, I got to thing it
I got to thing--team
I got to run my side
Interpretation: I'm insane. Or confused. Or overstretched. Or all three. And the ups are damned good, but there're downs, too. That's important to remember.
This is. Kinda scarily accurate...
*skip classical instrumental, because unhelpful...*
Song 3: The environment in which you operate: Arrogant Worms: Pirate of the Saskatchewan
Sample lyric: And it's a heave (ho!) hi (ho!), coming down the plains
Stealing wheat and barley and all the other grains
And it's a ho (hey!) hi (hey!), farmers bar yer doors
When you see the Jolly Roger on Regina's mighty shores
Interpretation: The environment I operate in? Utter silliness. And unreality. A dream world.
Yup.
*skip Dead Can Dance instrumental*
*skip Hocus Pocus, by Focus, because yodelling? And accordians? And electric guitars? Unhelpful. but over here if you want it*
*skip Godspeed You Black Emperor instrumental, beautiful as it is... 28 Days Later music. Not reassuring*
Song 4: Immediate action to be taken: Blur: Coffee and TV
Sample lyric: Do you feel like a chain store?
Practically floored
One of many zeros
Kicked around bored
Your ears are full but your empty
Holding out your heart
To people who never really
Care how you are
So give me Coffee and TV
Peacefully
I've seen so much
I'm goin blind
And i'm braindead virtually
Sociability
It's hard enough for me
Take me away form this big bad world
And agree to marry me
So we can start all over again
Interpretation: Um. Hide? Start again. Find a new place, find new people. Sort out my social relationships, and, I guess, prioritize. Um? I don't know.
I don't like this one. It worries me.
Song 5: Likely outcome: Thomas Tallis: Eriskay Love Lilt
Sample lyric: All I can make out is "sad am I without thee."
Interpretation: Yeah. Cheerful.
I don't like this game any more.
