I know what they mean and how to use them, but nine times out of ten my only contact with them has been textual (oh baby). You should have seen me in my Oxford interview. Not only did I make pronunciation mistakes, but I tried to explain why; an explanation which amounted to stuttering about having more contact with books than real-life-speaking-people.
