Hmm. It's not wrong to have a crush on cartoon characters, right? Which should mean that comics are okay. Which, by extension, means art is fine, and the fact that I think this icon is beautiful is not an indication that something is wrong with me.

I think I fell in love with the face of the Girl with a Pearl Earring from the first moment I saw it, which was when it was printed on the back of a Reader's Digest when I was like...oh, God, eleven? I don't know. In any case, I think falling in love with iconic figures is a perfectly natural thing. You know that portrait of Albrecht Dürer, the one he did himself (I think)? I've been in love with that face, too, and I can't even pin down why. It's in the looks, it's in the eyes. Some paintings live.

You know, I have not yet read the book or seen the movie. I've seen the trailer, however, and stills, and I have to say, while lovely, there's something about her that doesn't quite click with the starkness of the painting. I'd have to see her in motion, though.

I fell in love with a beautiful Classical Greek statue of a woman, and then found out that said image was Hermaphroditus (if I'm recalling this correctly). *headdesk*

There is totally nothing wrong with it. I totally had a thing for a video game character some years back. My friends found it very amusing. Got me a figurine of him. *grins*

And the icon? I so have a thing for him. Mmmm...
