Jun. 25th, 2005 11:42 pmFeeling kinda guilty about bitching (not very much, but still) about parentals. Dad came up today to help me move, and took me for lunch in the pub (and yes, I chose the cheapest thing on the menu - it's habit, now. I would make an excellent girlfriend), and then carted all my stuff to my new house (which is lovely and light and the bed is SO COMFY OMG have never had a double bed before). After that he took me off to Tesco, ostensibly for an extension lead but really to buy me various necessities and tasty food and tea and a housewarming bottle of wine. And then when he paid for it he got cashback and handed me £40. Which means that in all probability I can afford to pay my rent this month, which was something I was seriously worried about. (No surprises there, eh?)
I'm back in the old flat now. The new flatmate (who I have yet to nickname) has her dad staying with her tonight, so I don't feel so guilty about sneaking back. I excused myself by saying that I had no wish to be clonked on the head by evil broken curtain rail of doom, which is true enough, but the real reason was the 'net. XD
And the best thing was the letter from
schiarire that was waiting for me when I moved in. Definitely the best way to make you feel at home right away.
I'm going to have a kip now, but I shall be back later. And do say hi. Because I'll probably be off the 'net for a week or two, which will be... hideous. I'll have to send those that want it my address before then, so I can look all pitiful and beg for snail mail.
(Have noticed tendency towards parentheses in this post. Odd. I always seem to do that - forget about a means of punctuation and then rediscover it and go punctuation-mad.)
Anyway. Yeah. Good day.

Date: 2005-06-25 06:10 pm (UTC)Hi. :) But... two weeks?! Argh. I hope you don't have to be deprived for that long - I would crack under the pressure. When I lived in London we all planned to get NTL, but the horror stories about long waits were so convincing that we ended up with BT dialup. Er... not that that will happen to you, I'm sure.
Anyway, I hope the rest of the move goes well. And words of advice from recent experience - the nailpolish WILL leak. It is a law of the universe. It requires at least 3 layers of plastic around it to be contained. And sometimes... sometimes even that is not enough. *DOOM*
