Jul. 18th, 2005 10:09 amWhoever it was that sent me Harry Potter? Thank you. Thank you so much. You may have inadvertantly (or not) sucked me back into the fandom, dammit. XD
Not going to go into all that much detail yet, because I've read it once and was too busy squeaking randomly and swearing loudly at the book to take things in in much detail. However, a few things -
Definitely confirmed that Sirius is dead. I never thought he wasn't, but come on - if anyone's being brought back from the dead, it's Dumbledore. And it'll probably involve Fawkes. A Horcrux related to Grindelwald? Who knows?
Fleur made me cry. I am now going to have terrible trouble playing Charlie as disliking her. *grins* Lack of Charlie vaguely annoying, but I had already got more than a slight impression that JKR isn't particularly interested in him, so I shall attempt not to mind - gives me more scope for invention.
'Sanguini'? I'm sorry. JKR, I love ya, but I may never forgive ya. Sounds like blood-soaked pasta. Urgh.
p.273, was it? For the Harry/Ron shippers. Definitely. Couldn't stop snorting.
Fenrir is interesting. Poor Lupin.
And then there's Snape. My flatmate's reading GoF at the moment, ramping up to HBP, and she asked me if we ever get to understand Snape, if he ever gets less confusing. I could not stop laughing. I have no idea what's going on, but I still think he's a goody. And I want to know why Dumbledore trusts him. The first person, btw, who answers that with a pairing, will be smited to kingdom come. XD
Harry seems to have grown up, in the space of a summer. Not just the lack of capslock (except for one moment which made me all nostalgic), but his determination to tell everyone everything, which makes a nice change. He still hasn't quite managed to break his habit of thinking the worst of absolutely everyone, but I suppose with his upbringing, that's kind of understandable.
Next book's going to be weird. No Hogwarts? WTF?#
ETA: Cissy/Bella. I'M SORRY. I CAN'T HELP IT!
Bill/Remus. Totally and utterly. Although Fleur is lovely, and sweet, and made me cry, Bill/Remus. Thank you.
Also? I am so glad there is finally reference for Blaise. He was never really that fascinating, to me, and now there hopefully'll be less speculation. XD
ETA 2: Heh. Just, the PM's comment about waiting for the President of the USA to phone, and referring to him as... I can't remember. Something exasperated and politely-British-contemptuous. It amused me.
I haven't read any posts about HBP yet, but boy do I want to. If you know of any, links would be ridiculously appreciated.
And anonymous benefactor, anything I can do for you in return? Because you made me ridiculously happy. Thank you.
