Oct. 20th, 2005 06:05 pmI adore the fashion at the moment - chunky knit and tweed and suchlike. I bought a lovely pair of herringbone brown trousers for pretty cheap, which will go nicely with the tweed jacket. I also bought a Peter Wimsey book for £3, which has an old-style bike and old fashioned brown shoe and GREY RIBBED SOCKS on the cover, which fills me with similar geek-squee. I seem to be having a huge 20s/30s glee at the moment; old typewriters and balls of string and brown paper packages and clattery bikes... I guess it's stuff I've always loved a lot, but now I'm beginning to connect it together and establish a label, to make it easier. And right now the world is making it easier to indulge in it all, which is great.
I've also been to work and got £100 in lieu of getting paid, which is enough to sort out my council tax bill, at least. And next weekend I should be paid two months worth of wages, as far as I can work out, which'll be pretty damned shiny - I can pay off my outstanding rent and... um...
I kinda accidentally reserved a book that costs £50.
I haven't actually paid anything toward it, not yet, but DAMN I want it. And y'know, a treat for first full-time-job-paypacket is okay, right? XD It's from a limited edition run of 'The importance of being ernest', a set of 1200 that were produced in about 1906, I think he said. And it's lovely quality paper, with rough edges, which is something I always find aesthetically pleasing. And, I just... it's Oscar!
Whaddaya reckon?
