Today I walked up a hill and read a book at the top, confused by all the people who had driven up just to buy a burger from a van and consume it in their cars, staring at the view. I stayed there until the wind blew me into a pub where I drank two pints of Amstel and ate a decent lunch, reading The Merlin Conspiracy all the while and occasionally emailing bookelfe about a story idea that won't leave me alone; then I decided to walk a different way back home which took possibly twice as long, gave me ridiculously beautiful views of the sea, served up some excellent tunes on my iPod and a double rainbow. I was walking along with an enormous and untameable grin on my face. Genuinely could not have been more happy.

Don't think I ever want to live inland again.
