I agree. There has to be some kind of force of buttsex at work to allow such disrespect to take place. But I *am* going to whine piteously about that fic now until it happens, because I'm that kind of rude bastard. Rude, but easily distracted.
(English Language is MUCH more of a degree than mine, trust me) Eh, I only got the equivalent of the Usborne Big Book of Literary Themes as part of my degree, and it was certainly not a great loss not knowing all that. Although sometimes it helps you work out what it is you've just written about, as opposed to what the story you're telling is.
Perhaps, but it does mean that I am forever stuck having to write fics instead of being able to read them, and I'm a lousy writer, so they never turn out as well as they would if there was anyone else in the world actually writing Three Investigators slash, or if Regeneration fic came up anywhere other than in Yuletide challenges.
In what sense?
Oh, aye, that was implicit in the question, I suppose. But people > books? Get out! You can't be in the nerd club anymore! (except, you know, I'd probably do the same thing and keep the book in my pocket for later)
Oh, weeks, possibly. I think I'd wear myself out frequently and have to stop for breaks, but I'd break him eventually, and then he would do a monkey dance for my amusement! Huzzah!
Which strikes you as being the "better" course of fiction - exploring an idea and using the characters as a means to this, or exploring a character through a series of hazy situations?
And, er, which character of yours/which you have borrowed would you most like to meet?
