Apr. 6th, 2006 10:52 amSo I just realised that I totally forgot to mention What I Did On My Weekend. Which is pretty lax of me.
I went up to London, this is known - I didn't think I could afford much in the way of food and suchlike, so I took a bag of apples and some biscuits with me, and I'm so going to do this every time from now on. It's the best plan ever.
I was standing at Victoria Station, quite happily reading my Good Omens, when some strange woman in a flasher mac came up and stood unnervingly close to me. That would be
ms_ntropy who is just one of those people who should have a constant reality TV show about her life - she's hysterically funny, and great to talk to, and has the best stories. And then of course there was
innerbrat who is always lovely, and has one of the most unnerving smiles I have ever come across. She looks like she's gonna go for the throat. Moving on:
We pottered off to Covent Garden, met up with Claire (another Milliwayser, also lovely) and had drinks, cuddled Stampy, all that sort of thing, then wandered off to Forbidden Planet where I fell deeply, deeply in love with an Edward Scissorhands plushie. After this there was alcohol purchase, drinking in the centre of a bandstand, the loss of Claire (woe! Even if she doesn't like being petted!) and back to Debi's for Serenity, drink, more drink, Galaxy Quest, drink, &c.
The next day I went off to the British Museum with a small hangover and sat in front in the sunshine eating a brie and apple and celery baguette and reading Good Omens, waiting to meet up with
unravels who bought me tea and gave me a scrabble tile and has therefore secured my unending devotion. No, really. I'm easy. We went into the reading room, wandered around, bought postcards, managed to hit the same room about SEVENTEEN TIMES and completely miss what we were looking for, which was the Greek and Roman sculpture (eventually found, and GUH), and she made me laugh loud enough to possibly piss off everyone in the entire museum. Which was a bit rude of me considering my decision that babies should be gagged in museums.
We went to Gosh comics, I showed her JtHM's cute little fatgod, and there was Much Rejoicing. And then, of course, we went to Soho and attempted to work out where Aziraphael's bookshop was. Didn't quite manage an exact location, but vaguely at least, and we found the alcohol shop where he quite clearly buys absinthe when he can't get Atlantean. (All non-Milliwaysers, feel free to ignore this bit.) There was also SHOCKINGLY cheap food for London, which was reallyquitetasty, and much lovely nattering about Raguel and Aziraphael, and how we can engineer more time with the two of them together. I think I accidentally ended up with a team Angelslash flag, this weekend.
After Soho, the only possible option, obviously, was St James Park, where we surreptitiously looked for Russian spies and Aziraphale and Crowley. To be honest, I didn't want to leave, and it sucks that she lives so far away. Somehow this must be dealt with.
Anyway, that's most of it. Except for this bit, which I needed to leave outside of the lj-cut in case she didn't see it otherwise...
fahye! Y'know that café? With the Stuart Townsend? And the mirror? I DONE SEEN IT! HA!
*grins*
Okay, I'm done.
