May. 11th, 2006 05:50 pmMy book had me giggling in an embarrassingly geeky way today. A section about London and its redevelopment and extension after the Great Fire:
"Another large-scale developer whose ambitious projects inluded the area around Soho square was the son of the famous Puritan Parliamentarian Praise God Barebones. His father christened him If-Jesus-Christ-Had-Not-Died-For-Thee-Thou-Hadst-Been-Damned Barebones. Unsurprisingly, for business purposes he preferred to be known as Nicholas Barbon."
It just made me ponder whether Aziraphale's been there from the beginning. Looking around for a place to settle, quite possibly with a grumpy demon in tow, and rather liking the tradition the developer's been brought up into. Thinking that yes, Soho could be a place with very promising prospects. And now he's sitting amongst all the sex shops, entirely too comfortable to move. Like a garish neon hermit crab.
*grins*
For the record, I didn't have any internet last night - turned my computer off during the storm, then tried it later on, and this morning, to no avail. Otherwise I should have been about, fangirling Taka madly and quite possibly hiding under the bed from Fuji.
Work continues apace. Spend much of my time waiting for the training computer system to get fixed and reading about pirates. There are worse ways to earn money.
