May. 18th, 2006 08:04 pmRandom thoughts, mostly for Caleb:
Somewhere along the line my means of comparison became god. As in, 'Dude, it was bigger than god!' I don't think god minds, especially. I mean, okay, blasphemy, yes... but it's not one of the big ones. And I don't think that the fact that I think women are bloody hot is one of the big ones, either.
(hi, mum!)
I think there are things that are Bad. And I won't change that opinion just because something becomes accepted or not... like Sophie, I don't think people should change what they believe purely because it's PC, but I do think they shouldn't believe things just 'cos a book tells 'em to. I think you should think about your beliefs and go with what works for you, which is why I fear me and organised religion will never get on - they say you accept the bad with the good, and I'm fine with that, but I don't have to accept what I don't believe along with what I do purely because it's Written Down.
Maybe somewhere else something else is written down, bigger. And underlined. Twice.
*grins*
Basically, I think I'm mostly a decent person. And I think I'm gonna be okay, 'cos I think god finds me amusing. More in the 'laughing at' than the 'laughing with', maybe, but still.
Like Bill Cosby said: "There is hope for the future because God has a sense of humour and we are funny to God."
And people like Fred Phelps, I reckon he just finds embarrassing.
