Hokay.

For the record, I'm going to be doing an English Literature A-Level over the next year. I'm doing it online and will therefore get very little in the way of interaction or tutor time so I will probably, as is my tendency, ramble randomly about it on my journal.

Here's the thing. I haven't done anything even remotely involving English Lit (save reading) for the last seven years. GCSEs? Not enormously comprehensive, let's face it. So I'm going to be getting very excited about drawing intensely obvious conclusions and generally making a fool of myself.

If I'm rambling? I'd love discussion. I'd love to talk about some of the things I'm learning, because I find that sort of thing interesting and exciting. I'm sad like that. If you're not interested or you're above such things due to having a degree in the subject, or any such thing, please just don't read it. Please don't make me feel stupid. I'm very easily discouraged. Does that make sense?

*grins*

Public Service Announcement ends.

Yay! I was an English major in college and miss it terribly. Would love any and all discussions about literature!

*bounces* Most of the books I get to read now are for the much younger set... yay elementary education. *points to icon*

I did English Language, but I kind of wished I'd done Lit as well as/instead of though - so I will be reading with interest! And maybe commenting in an uneducated manner...

Good luck with it! I admire you for taking it on <3

Thanks.

I used to sit and discuss my flatmate's Eng Lit degree with her, and managed to hold my own in one of her lectures, so I don't reckon I'll do too badly. I'm just kinda worried about being out of practice. XD

Yeah, I did language too, and went on to do a degree in it at Cardiff. WAS A BAD IDEA. BAAAAAAAAD. Cardiff is the home of Systemic Functional Grammar, which should be KILLED.

I have. . . part of a degree! Which I don't think counts. So count me in on interested in ramblings! Yup yup.

I'm not automatically discounting people with degrees! I'm just scared of them.

You are one of the reasons I decided not to do English Language at degree level! Thank you for saving me from certain death.... XDD

Emperor's New Groove is not high on priorities because I have not seen and therefore don't understand.

And I'm proud of you too, likewise in the non-patronising way. I'm so going to boast about my friend in Cambridge, you know.

I just bet it's going to be in the next two weeks, isn't it? When I am in Devon. And then Cornwall.

If it's after that, though, yes!

A-level is end of college, aged 17/18. Tend to do three or four of them, but I require an extra so I can do my teacher training - I have to be able to teach up to A-level standard and they don't seem willing to believe that if I don't have the qualification myself... XD

Plus, lit = books. books = good. book discussion = really good. book discussion for a wannabe librarian = even better.

I would LOVE to join you. I suffer from intense English Lit Geekery. :D I do, in fact, have a degree in it, albeit not, y'know, a Masters or anything, but am two years out of practise and promise to listen to rambling with eager ears.

I could never, ever be a teacher, but I love seeing/watching people learn and get excited about EngLit. :D It's like a really huge, multiple-century-spanning fandom.
