Okay, here's the deal. I'm gonna do that Christmas wishlist thing, but I really really want you to link me to yours, too. If you've done one. If you haven't, I want you to make one so I can make sure I sort out at least a couple of people with something they want. Aye?
Aye aye.
My Wishlist
1. Nail varnish in ridiculous colours. Particularly after dark green, but anything that's not red/pink.
2. Secondhand books with messages in the front. It doesn't matter if the messages aren't to me. :D
3. Good quality icons for
a_fell. I'm cutting back on playing him a bit, but that doesn't change the fact that most of his icons just aren't very good because my skills run only to cropping/resizing. www.paulbettany.net has an unbelievable collection of pics.
4. A post from you lot about something you believe in strongly. It really doesn't matter what - whether it's feminism or your favourite band or the pleasure to be found in a really good cheese. Whatever.
5. Anything involving Aziraphale. At all.
6. A hat that will fit my ridiculously enormous head. Wishful thinking, I know.
7. A turtle.
8. A tarot reading.
9. A hug.
10. Pictures of angels. Something you've drawn in paint or a scribble that's been scanned in or a link to a painting/stained glass window you like or anything of the sort, really. Especially if there are varicoloured wings.
STEP ONE
Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a ______ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("all I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV."). The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.
STEP TWO
Surf around your friends list (or friends' friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. and now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- do it.
You need not spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
And now I'm going to go take a bath. Oh baby, yeah.
