Jan. 23rd, 2007 08:22 pmHee, SG:A just makes everything better. The Zelenka/Ronon hints still manage to disturb me, but I love Rodney and Radek bitching. I also love that they've brought an entire jumper full of scientists because that suggests nothing so much as 'disposable' and I'm surprised that they're not wearing red shirts. I recognise... Zelenka, obviously, and that lady next to him, so they'll probably survive.
Also? I'm a fan of the underwater thing. Shows set strictly in space are so limited. Also purely land, and purely sea. SG:A gives us a combination of all three... now all we need is to have them fully engulfed in fire. *giggles*
...what. Carson is in the credits what. Oh please tell me the woahmg saturation dream sequences aren't going to be a regular thing, 'cos that would just a) suck and b) rob the initial one of any sort of meaning. (And, to be honest, it was kiiiinda lacking in that in the first place...)
Yup. Still amused that any sort of docking the puddlejumper does is enormously Freudian.
...oh, hey. Looks like the Ark black shirt of all sex may actually be a regular feature of John's uniform, now. I am pleased with this plan, absolutely. I can also tell already that this is going to be a long commentary... *looks sheepish*
I'm actually very very pleased with David Hewlett so far. He's snappier, bitchier and generally looking not-so-happy in this episode. If this is related to Carson it's the only indication so far, and it's subtle but it's there. Of course, it's entirely possible that Carson will appear later in the episode and we'll find out that the schedule is out of whack and I'll shriek and spill tea all over myself, but for now I'm gonna stick with my happy little 'good acting' thoughts.
Oh, cool, Teyla's possessed by a wraith. It must've been listening earlier. Shiny. Ooh, ooh, can she kick the crap out of Rodney?
*ahem*
Sorry.
God, I love Radek. I just want him to live in my cupboard forever so I can squoosh him and pet his fluffy head and listen to him bitch when I have a bad day.
I love that Rodney is, yes, hopeless with names but he makes an effort. He's an arrogant sod, but he's really not that bad a boss, when it comes down to it. My line manager knows my name, sure, but I bet the principal would tell me off for being in the staff room. XD
HA. Rodney is all 'Oh yes, let's race towards the gun-fire' but he would so totally be the fastest runner if John was unaccounted for. (You call it inconsistent characterisation. I call it slash. Shhhh.)
EEE DR McCOY!!! I mean, yes, it had to happen, but... EEEE!
Sheppard gurning hits my embarrassment squick but hard. I hate lengthy mind control scenes, they're always so lovingly depicted and far too long; right from Colonel Sumner I've had to hide from them an awful lot. I've never been able to distance myself from this stuff - it's why I make such a lousy actor, and it's why I cannot watch the Office and suchlike. Or, y'know, gurning. (I'm sorry, Joe Flanigan, I love you really but OMG please stop making constipated noises?)
...and Sheppard has the stupidest plans. Seriously, the man is psychotic and suicidal, and probably a bit of a sadist considering that the happiest we've ever seen him was when he was pushing Rodney off a balcony. Sheppard/Sheppard's Issues OTP! I want a psychological profile of this man, srsly.
No. Seriously. They're not going to use Teyla to update on the whole wraith cruiser situation, right? Right? Right. Of course they are. Sigh. Oh, what a surprise! Teyla as exposition, yet again. Someday they'll do something funky with her, right? Right? ...right. Sigh.
*tuts* They've done the massive geothermal boomy.
Hee, the diving suits are in an excellent position, like someone just stopped filming a Daft Punk music video with them. ...AND THEY STAY IN THAT POSITION AHAHAHAHAHA ohmigod I'm so easily amused.
Mental fights are never as fun as slap-fights, let's be honest. Instead of the wraith queen and Teyla blinking at each other, what say we import Xander and Harmony, huh?
Hmm. Rodney with recognition of John's suicidal impulses? I don't know I haven't decided how to read that line yet. This is probably my internal love of the realisation, in fic, of quite how fucked up they both are. It's pleasing when they're realistic.
This episode is just enormously lacking in dramatic tension. Come on, Season 3, don't die yet! You were doing so well!
Elizabeth actually seriously annoys me with her boundless optimism. Maybe she knows she's on a sci-fi show and therefore it's very rare that any of her bosom friends are going to die; it seems to be the only rational explanation of her constant refusal to accept - not even the worst case scenario. The 'what would in fact happen if this weren't teevee' scenario.
...Ronon is not that stupid. Seriously. Come on.
Teyla is projecting bollocks at the wraith. This is the only logical explanation. HALF AN HOUR. This episode kiiinda sucks. ...and no, Rodney with a p-90 is not enough to make me reevaluate. Um. Much. ¬_¬
Aaaaw, group naptime! See, that's cute.
Yeah, that actually sucked. I'm hugely disappointed at the lack of any sort of continuity from Carson's death. I know the writers can do so much better than this, and there's really no excuse. I mean, yes, I can totally find happy in every episode, but in this one it was kinda lacking. There weren't even any McShep moments, although no doubt I'll read someone else's review and go Oooooh. But yeah. Whatever. Meh.
