I am reading the best book at the moment. Smaller has wonderful taste, it'd seem, since [livejournal.com profile] liz666 has been completely absorbed in her christmas gift, too.

Mine is 'Living with Pirates: The romance and the reality' by David Cordingly. It's totally absorbing and engaging, is teaching me a hell of a lot, and it's also really pleasing to have moments of 'ah, yes, well that happened because that happened, and he was there too!' I'm not used to retaining information in any helpful way, so this is pretty shiny. Also shiny is the info about Mrs Cheng, a former prostitute from Canton who was in charge of thousands of pirates in China. Dude, she so totally rocked. XD Obviously also amused by the lesbian overtones to the story of Ann Bonney and Mary Read, and the fact that they were on the crew of Calico Jack - they seem like a gay bunch.

Speaking of, I'm going to retire to bed and the book, now. I've tidied my room today, and I'm still at a level of energy where achieving one thing in a day (aside from the full time work, obviously) is a total cause for celebration.

(I was relieved to see that the A-level I'm supposed to be doing is good until September 2008, too. I don't have to get it done in the next 6 months and therefore get a lesser mark than I could get, thus emulating all academia I've participated in so far. One of these days I'm going to get my life resembling something in the manner of 'sorted', honest.)

Glad you like the book - yes I seemed to have made a couple of random but ideal choices for yourself & Liz. Pleasing.

I hope you start to feel less achey when the cold subsides soon. Thinking of you.

*hugs*
