Jun. 18th, 2007 10:34 amOoh, I like this meme! Ten first lines; books I like, although not necessarily my favourites since most of my books are packed up in boxes and have been since I moved from Cardiff. There's a sheet precisely arranged over them and I'm not really allowed to disturb it. :D
1. Vietnam, me love you long time. All day, all night, me love you long time.
2. To avoid discovery I stay on the run. To discover things for myself I stay on the run.
3. It was a nice day.
4. The night before he went to London, Richard Mayhew was not enjoying himself.
5. It's still my favourite book in all the world.
6. The deck of the French ship was slippery with blood, heaving in the choppy sea; a stroke might as easily bring down the man making it as the intended target.
7. 'But I put it to you, my lord, that prize money is of essential importance to the Navy.'
8. Clare: It's hard being left behind.
9. Year in and year out vast forests are razed and pulped so that the dreams of unproduced yet ever hopeful screenwriters can be printed, copied, circulated, read, perchance bought, and - the dream come true! - transmuted to a strip of material made of the boiled hooves and horns of beasts slaughtered by the million.
10. The angel was cleaning out his closets when the call came.
3. Good Omens: Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. Guessed by
