Does it make me a bad person to really be against Hate Crime legislation as it has been written?

The opponent is right, that a crime against a minority group is no more or less a crime. What I wish Hate Crime Legislation would actually do is rule out any sort of "manslaughter" or "lesser crime". If it can be proven that the accused already had a predisposition of hate towards a particular group, then that should automatically make them ineligible for any sort of plea bargain, parole, or lesser sentence.

I don't want special rights. I want equal rights.
