Okay, look. The fact that Rodney was completely, enormously William Dampier, and the fact that John would always, always choose the most hazardous, ridiculous route up the rigging so he could feel part of the sky, and the fact that there was a fairly self-effacing ships doctor who discovered the cure/prevention of scurvy really doesn't matter, right now.

It's just the whole part where the Native Americans had a cure for it that doesn't involve citrus that's tugging at me.
