Dec. 11th, 2007 05:22 amI'm generally pleased with myself because I've been having a really hard time getting my top set yr9 to behave. This is because they are 13 and therefore know everything and don't require my teaching (for srs) and have major troubles settling and being quiet. But y'know what? I was in a damned fine mood yesterday, and I pretty much winged the entire lesson, and I was incredibly silly at them and they loved it. Seriously. The lesson began with them sticking post-it notes with aspects of brochures onto the spectrum of truthiness, which went from 'TRUFAX' to 'HIM LIE THRU HIM TEEF', and then they had to attempt to sell me a portaloo, a cabin in the middle of a lake, a beach hut and a stable. And their big project for the week is to make a brochure for locations ranging from a McDonalds toilet to a Punch and Judy tent.
And it's totally educationally valid.
Note to self: have fun. Be said self. Teaching can be awesome.
