So I'm bored.
Sep. 2nd, 2003 01:36 amGonna do another one of those meme things.
Ask me a question. Ask me anything at all. Within reason, I will answer.
*needs to get out more...*
EDIT: I volunteered to do a job for my mother this morning. She said I was an angel. Then she looked me up and down, and ammended her statement. "Well... a slightly *sleazy* angel."
Best description ever. I love my mum. :D

Date: 2003-09-02 11:36 am (UTC)My favourite pairing depends very much on what I've recently read. I think... in terms of pairings without reading any of the fanfiction, I would say SB/RL. It's virtually canon, and it's incredibly sweet. I am absolutely heartbroken for Lupin. On the other hand, I don't really read SB/RL because it's rarely treated how I want it. Because I love the pairing, I have very specific ideas of what I want from fanfic in this pairing. (Though... if anyone has recs, they would be appreciated). Currently my favourite pairing to *write* is Snape/Lupin,(loving the snark), though I'm not progressing particularly well in any of my ongoing fics. I need a beta, to kick me up the arse occasionally, but I haven't really found a steady one yet.
My favourite pairing to read depends very much on the writer. Different writers have different ideas of the characters, and so long as they're largely based in canon I can deal with interpretations. What, or who, I read, depends also on the kind of mood I in. For instance, Mulder/Krycek is a very angsty pairing, Merry/Pippin tends to be amusing and sweet, Fraser/Kowalski often has great plots to back it up... I read pretty much anything. I'm a pairingslut. =)

Date: 2003-09-02 11:42 am (UTC)I used to be involved in X-Files fandom to a large extent. I had a great beta, but she tended to only tell me about grammar/spelling errors, so I didn't feel that my writing was making any great progress. I got a lot more feedback than I've had for my stories in this fandom, but there was no... fun. There were very few essays that I found. There didn't seem to be any silliness, and I am a big fan of silliness. Plus, they killed one of the pairing, in a way that completely negated any slash.
Due South I liked, and I still check out the fics, but there really didn't seem to be all that much happening *apart* from fic, so I can be a part of it simply by reading and feedbacking occasionally.
LotR I never really got involved in.
Discworld I'm looking into, but only from the fringes as yet. I don't know who to speak to or where to go . I'm investigating.
[note: these are my opinions, based *only* on my experiences. Please don't yell at me.]

Date: 2003-09-02 11:30 am (UTC)Do you think you have a sexual investment in writing m/m slash?
Would you let your parents/siblings/other immediate family members read it, and why?
What do you think the characters you like to slash the most say about you (when you slash them)?
If that's not scary enough for you let me know.

Date: 2003-09-02 12:09 pm (UTC)Sex life? I don't need no steenking sex-life.
I don't feel emtionally mature enough yet for the type of relationships I am expected to have at this age. I want a fifteen year old relationship. Kissing, and hugs, and *fun*. I don't want to have sex. I'm really not interested right now. And I can thik of nothing more hideous than having long, intense discussions about "where the relationship is going". I'm very immature, and for the moment I'm happy to remain so. I really don't need anyone else to make me happy.
Sorry... was that TMI? *g*

Date: 2003-09-02 12:50 pm (UTC)I think... slash has very much affected my expectations, my preferences. I mentioned that I'm not homophobic, unlike my family, and I think I would have been disgusted and uncomfortable with myself because I'm bisexual if I had not fallen into this. Slash made me realise I'm not a complete freak of nature. Slash made me sit down and think about it, and realise that this *wasn't* just some teenage period of sexual uncertainty.
It has also opened my mind to the various options available. In my house, it's pretty much like sex toys/sex play/fetishes are for deviants, whereas I feel like I'd be more open to trying stuff out.
Plus... slash has made me more willing to stick to my convictions. To not just *settle* for someone. I want someone special, and I'm not settling for less. =)
More helpful? *g*

Date: 2003-09-02 11:56 am (UTC)See, that's the other thing. I'm bisexual. I haven't told my family, unsurprisingly. I don't want to be disowned unless it actually becomes an issue. At the moment, I don't want to date *anyone*, so it's cool.
They'd probably be a lot more understanding than I give them credit for. But I know I'd lose my brother.
On the other hand, I am subtly showing my little sister a different point of view. I reckon she's a potential slasher. *g*

Date: 2003-09-02 12:04 pm (UTC)*confession time* I gave up playing games pretty late in life. My friend and I still had a very rich fantasy life long after everyone else had given up. When we played, she always pretended she had a steady boyfriend, while I was more likely to pretend that I liked someone but didn't go out with them. And if, during the course of the game, we *did* get together, something terrible would happen to them. They'd all die or something. It was like I was Kirk and they were my manbitches.
That's kind of carried over into my slash. I rarely write anything other than first time fics, and if I do write established relationship fics, something *always* goes wrong. So I tend to focus on pairings that are doomed. Maybe I can get around to writing some SB/RL now. *weeps*
Now you see why I'm single. =)

Date: 2003-09-02 11:20 am (UTC)COFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEE!
I am not actually that big a chocolate fan. I'd prefer a tasty honey yoghurt or something. I mean... I'm not *against* chocolate, but I really like not-quite-so-sweet sweet things. I'd buy a bag of mixed nuts'n'fruit over chocolate. Coffee, on the other hand...
Something you have to understand is, my mother reacts ridiculously to caffeine. So we have decaffeinated coke, tea, coffee... therefore, whenever I have coffee, I turn into a hyperactive six year old and run around and around and around. It's good fun.
Mmmm, coffee.
