"You must be concerned only with use of language. Use of language and audience. Two! Two things you must be concerned with. Use of language and audience - and newspaper bias. Three! Three things you must be concerned with: Use of language, audience, bias - and a fanatical devotion to the Pope.

Hands up who gets the reference.

No? No?

...And this, folks, is why you must at all times consider your audience - so what kind of things do you want to be thinking about while you're writing your newspaper article?"

I don't know if it's the right reference, but it reminds me of a Steve Martin Christmas blessing....as well as Monty Python.

Do I pass?

Without looking at any of the comments first to see if I'm right, it sounds a little like Steve Martin's holiday wish thing on SNL -- "If I had one wish that I could wish this holiday season, it would be that all the children to join hands and sing together in the spirit of harmony and peace. If I had two wishes I could make this holiday season, the first would be for all the children of the world to join hands and sing in the spirit of harmony and peace. And the second would be for 30 million dollars a month to be given to me, tax-free in a Swiss bank account...."

Now I'm going to look at the comments and see if I was right. Probably I'm way off the mark. :-D
