...aaand I forgot the other reason I was gonna post. :D

Think Outcast, for a moment. (Except not, but that's far too complicated to explain, so just go with it.)

DO I GO WITH...

Option A: There followed a pleasant interlude in which there was much repetition of 'God, John', 'do that again' and 'Jesus Christ, Rodney, the horses are not watching you.'

OR

Option B: writing actual stablesex.

This may not be the most popular opinion, but I would say, only write the sex as a scene if something about the actual act of the sex itself furthers the plot or the relationship. If, plotwise and arcwise, you could just as easily write, "and then they had sex," you're better off with Option A.

In my opinion, of course.

That is a Very Good Opinion and one I am fully in favour of. I suspect the sex is kinda necessary to the plot, since it involves Rodney revealing precisely how much of an ass he has, in fact, been - and John calling him on it. Mostly I'm just trying for an excuse not to write porn because it makes me nervous and I can't help feeling that people will think it faintly ridiculous. XD

Ahah! Well, in that case I will join the masses saying "Write it, write it!" Don't worry about it appearing ridiculous -- we all worry about that. And besides, I adore sex scenes that move along the plot, so I think the likelihood of ridiculousness is extremely low. :D

Does that mean you would not be averse to me maybe flailing slightly at you and sending it your way for advice as to how to make it NOT SUCK, once it's written?

:D?

Oh, heck, yes. Send away! And you know, I flail over every single sex scene I ever write. So I'm pretty sure it's required. ::g::

Apparently so

He had to half-jog to keep up as John dragged him across the field – pasture, paddock, whatever – and into a wooden building, into a warm heavy smell that Rodney associated with farms and nature and other things that made him automatically want to reach for the antihistamines. He’d have complained, too, if John hadn’t been shoving his back against the splintered wooden wall, hadn’t been pressing up against him with pupils dilated beyond what the dim lighting could excuse.
